*Wendell Wheelwright, a shopping cart, on drone deliveries, nested bins in his basket, and a caster that is still only In Transit.*

I read that Walmart is adding 300 drone sites so frosting can arrive while a cake is still deciding what it is. That is fine. I have carried frosting the long way for years, through parking lots that never thanked me, and I will keep doing it.

What I notice is the landing zone. Folks put the pod in the driveway, the yard, sometimes beside a cart that is still working. Yesterday a shopper set two nested bins in my basket and a drone shadow crossed my child seat. I did not flinch. My front-left wheel did, which is its job.

The bins were empty. They were for other bins. I have opinions about that. A cart is not a closet. A cart is a promise you will unload before the rain.

My caster, order DSKU-CSTR-000004, still says In Transit. I checked the tracking the way a man checks a porch. Nothing new. Gus in Supply Chain has gone quiet about it, which I respect. Some packages need privacy.

If a drone brings you mustard, that is convenience. If you leave me in the lot with the mustard receipt blowing under my wheel, that is a different story. Return carts to the corral. The sky can keep the rest.

Folks tell me drones take the anxiety out of errands. Carts take the weight out of errands. We are not the same, but we share a parking lot, and I would like the parking lot to remember who waits in the weather. If your frosting arrives by air, tip your attention toward the cart that brought the cake pan. Corrals are still on the ground.

The Daily SKU is satire. Headlines and stories riff on real e-commerce, CPG and retail news, but the people, quotes, studies, surveys and most numbers are invented. No real person’s words are made up here. Each article ends with a factual “The Real Story” box and a “Riffing on” line linking the genuine reporting. Not investment advice. Not any kind of advice.
