Wells Fargo Clarifies That Your AI Agent Is You, Legally Speaking
An updated online banking agreement treats an authorized AI agent's actions as the customer's own.

SAN FRANCISCO—Wells Fargo has updated its online access agreement, effective Nov. 24, so that actions taken by a third-party AI agent a customer authorizes are treated as the customer's own.
Customers said the change raised philosophical questions. "If my agent buys 48 rolls of paper towels at 2 a.m., was that me?" asked one account holder. "The bank says yes. My kitchen says yes. I say I was asleep."

If my agent buys 48 rolls of paper towels at 2 a.m., was that me?
Experts recommended reading the agreement in full, or having your agent read it, in which case you have technically read it.
The Daily SKU is satire. Headlines and stories riff on real e-commerce, CPG and retail news, but the people, quotes, studies, surveys and most numbers are invented. No real person’s words are made up here. Each article ends with a factual “The Real Story” box and a “Riffing on” line linking the genuine reporting. Not investment advice. Not any kind of advice.
